You got it right when a restaurant has Coca Cola signage
23 January 2013
Unlike 'House of Curries' which every student is akin to, the Durban Curry House serves incredible food and coke in 2 litre glass bottles.
True to belief, Durban is the heart of Indian curries - done Durban style. Although many people visiting Durban go to House of Curries (perhaps because of its stellar location), there are in fact a number of lesser known curry pots to try out: Durban Curry House, Britannia, Govenders, Gowdens, and many other corner shops.
If you are looking to impress a date - unless you'd like to see how adventurous they are - they will probably not be very impressed with the setting of Durban Curry House. Coupled with plastic covered tables and a sink inside the restaurant to wash your hands, the vibe of this awesome little family-run restaurant makes you feel as if you are "back in the day" and sitting in a corner shop whilst you open a fridge to choose your own 2 litre fizzy drink. Every time that I have been to Durban Curry House I have been amazed at the number of local Indians who frequent the restaurant to purchase their food. Note: If a local purchases food, it has to be good.
If you're keen for a pre-or-post party vibe, perhaps House of Curries is for you. They may have awesome little water misters outside on the deck and Castle Lite in quartz bottles. I however, would prefer to not see young high school boys in shorts showing too much white and rather get my hands involved in Durban Curry House's incredible bunnies!
Do yourself a favour and live a little.
You'll find them on the corner Mathews Meyiwa Road (formally Stamfordhill) and Churchill - just passed the robot interchange.
