The Best Breakfast in Durban
22 January 2013
If you want something unusual, incredibly tasty and somewhat off the wall - go to Freedom Cafe.
Hidden away off Florida Road is this quirky restaurant whose main dining area is a giant steel shipping container painted red. Coupled with large plastic sausage dogs, one can have breakfast or lunch.
Their meals are light with exceptional flavour and freshness, and their giant cups of delicious coffee are a win too.
I have had their Asian beef salad with toasted rice and micro greens, but the most memorable was my grilled zucchini fritters for breakfast with an impressive poached egg done the old-school way.
If you're in the mood to get away, you will definitely be transported and like the Secret Garden, you won't feel that you're 50m away from Florida Road. Take your bottle of chilled Hendrik Ludewyk Sparkling Wine or wear your slops and fedora - the friendly and eloquent staff will welcome you in and accentuate your meal.
Have a look at their website and decide for yourself!
