Why everyone should love Burger and Beer nights - and rugby!
22 January 2013
I'm not a beer drinking enthusiast but the unique Craft beers supplied at Unity Bar make your venison burger taste a lot more 'awesome' than your 'Everyday Awesome' meal for lunch (thanks Steers!).
Coupled with astro-turf at the restaurant entrance and tables that are always taken - there has to be something incredibly special to be said about Unity Bar. I have been there to celebrate birthdays, watch the rugby and grab a bite after sailing in the harbour.
Now here comes my nutritional and scientific love of food: I have never been so excited when looking at a menu as I did when I discovered that they offered an organic and free-range 'Rip-Eye' steak (still don't know where that is on the dear cow but I was lost after reading 'organic and free-range'), and my boyfriend has an endearing love for their venison, brie and cranberry jam burger.
As I love and opt for the 'healthier' options on menu's, I would love to see their use of rye / whole-grain / anything-but-plain-white burger rolls, but they can get away with it as their food speaks for itself. Their steamed broccoli and French beans have my nod of approval (just the right hue of green to maximise the nutrients), and they don't cook my medium rare steak too much on the medium side.
All in all, excellent food for any festive occasion, well trained staff with management that works at Cafe 1999 too, and an experience that will ensure you join the team again.
It is my heartfelt wish that you enjoy the same awesomeness!
