Below is a short and sweet update:
1. I'm becoming smarter
2. Even science tells us to keep things uncomplicated
My new-found love for chemistry and physiology is alight with excitement whenever I get to read the research done on these findings to understand how the body works and how the body disseminates the information passed to each cell from every piece of food ingested. Believe me, food is not fuel. Have a look at this amazing article to find out why I think so too - No. Food is NOT fuel. (And thankfully, you're not a Ferrari).
It would appear that within a few days of a new "truth" appearing on the internet, there's a new "do and don't" diet to adhere to it. From my own continuing health journey and the challenges I see many others face, sometimes it's great to stick to the basics:
Form Healthy Habits
- Manage your stress
- Prioritise sleep
- Move around
- Eat nourishing foods and eat until 80% full
Here's a section of a very cool blog post I read this morning which exemplifies the above - taken from Conditioning Research.
I became disillusioned with the contrarian world of health and fitness on the internet, especially as regards diet. It is not as complicated as we try to make it... paleo, low-carb, low fat or "real food" or whatever become dead-ends sometimes, cultish little communities where any dissent is akin to heresy. I've been banned from at least one Paleo Facebook group for questioning their orthodoxy.
Here's the link to the post to read more - enjoy!
