For those who come to dine with us, we will be sure to tell you what comes from our garden
My family is greatly blessed with green fingers, yet my contribution is the cooking and preparing of them.
Anyway, as you'll see below in my "feed the hoard tendencies", I always pick too much and this extends to what I find in the garden. This notion only serves me well when I make pepperdew chutney or pickled pepperdews. You can never have enough! Ok, I lie, unless you're happy with about 6 very large bottles of the stuff. Friends and family always get so excited when they are sent a photo of our sink filled with them, it generally means they're getting a bottle.
Whether baking, cooking, hard-boiling, scrambling or poaching, there is no doubt that knowing where your eggs have come from are amazing! We have even had issues when trying to make meringue as the eggs were "too fresh" (ha! Imagine!) that made us seriously consider ever purchasing eggs from a shop again. This actually applies to all vegetables and herbs!
I will keep you posted on any new and usual things I make out of what the Green Fingers at home have planted!
